The real magic of Halloween

As we stock up on sweets to hand out to the tiny trick or treaters, we may not be aware of the real magical meaning of Halloween, and of how we can use that esoteric knowledge to add benefit to our lives today.

To the ancient Celts, the festival of Halloween – or Samhain as they called it – was enormously significant because they knew it was the time when the Veil  between our world and those of our ancestors was much finer, and their shamans could more easily journey in trance between them.

When the Romans grafted the religion of Christianity on to the indigenous British Samhain, they called it All Hallows Eve … in a nod to the mega-myth of the zodiac hero who has to face his adventures and challenges on the spinning astrological wheel, and who tumbles down into the Underworld at Samhain in Scorpio, to meet his appointments  in the Realms of the Dead.

Some of you may remember that winning the hallows was a challenge that J.K. Rowling gave to her Harry Potter as he progressed in his magicianship. But it is an actually an initiatory rite that goes back for thousands of years, and those who passed it, like Arthur Pendragon, had their name glorified by the Druidic bards forevermore.

The real Adams family

The powers-that-be later demonised those who understood the power of these rites and practices and as recently as the 18th century, the Puritans banished them from these isles.

The initial production of the Hollywood comedy series The Addams Family was to make fun of these Dragon Clans – those who understood the power of the revolving Wheel of the seasons and the festivals, and the impact each one had on the Dragon lines, which we call ley lines. Many of them were exiled to America. They were the Founding Fathers who wrote the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, and two of them, John Adams and John Quincy Adams, were among the first US presidents.

The real Adams family, along with an increasing number these days who have the eyes to see, know that death is an illusion – or rather it is a birth into another realm and another life.

How to do some beneficial magic

And so with our ancestors ever-present in an eternal parallel dimension from where they are encouraging our spiritual growth in our dreams and visions, we can better understand the magical significance of Halloween, All Hallows Eve or Samhain, and use it to our advantage at this time, when the Veil is thinner.

What follows is an extremely powerful enchantment. Whenever I use it on Samhain, it reverberates along the path of my life for years and years to come.

  • On the evening of October 31st, light a small fire in your back garden or yard.
  • Once you are happy that is comfortably burning, quieten down inside, get centred and start to meditate on your heart.
  • Imagine that the organ of your heart contains a cameo photo of those of your forebears who have recently crossed through the Veil, and send them your love.
  • Next, say their names out loud, and ask for their blessings for what you are about to do.
  • Then take a small piece of paper upon which, earlier, you had written your heart’s desire, and throw it upon the fire.
  • If your request is in line with your destiny that is written in the stars at the time of your birth and which your ancestors know very well, it will be granted.
