Monsanto public relations are fighting an uphill battle as they try to convince the world that their genetically modified crops are beneficial and necessary. More than ever before, informed people are skeptical of the so-called safety of GMOs and agrochemicals. When the International Agency for Research on Cancer declared that glyphosate was a probable human carcinogen, public opinion on GMO safety quickly shifted.
Now Monsanto must employ a new strategy to promote GMOs, one that paints dissenters as “ideologically driven” and “anti-science.” In the United Kingdom, Monsanto headquarters appointed former World Bank communications strategists Vance Crowe to head up a new position called “Director of Millennial Engagement.” This position was created to convince skeptical young adults that their anti-GMO views are fueled by emotion, not logic. Crowe is scheduled to tour the UK in 2017 and convince millennials that the benefits of GMOs trump the fear surrounding public opinion. Continue reading

The United States is threatening nations who oppose Monsanto’s genetically modified (GM) crops with military-style trade wars, according to information obtained and released by the organization WikiLeaks. Nations like France, which have moved to ban one of Monsanto’s GM corn varieties, were requested to be ‘penalized’ by the United States for opposing Monsanto and genetically modified foods.
The information reveals just how deep Monsanto’s roots have penetrated key positions within the United States government, with the cables reporting that many U.S. diplomats work directly for Monsanto. Continue reading
It’s beginning to look like the birth defects being attributed to a fast-spreading virus which is sparking a public health emergency in the US is actually being caused by a pesticide poison – already known to medical science as a cause of birth defects – which is being added to the drinking water by a company related to Monsanto.

A German minister has declared that glyphosate should be banned in the EU. However, it won’t be that easy. He will have to battle it out with an unelected and unaccountable federal agency which is in denial, to put it mildly, about the World Health Organisation’s conclusion that glyphosate possibly causes cancer.
Consumer Affairs minister Christian Meyer called for an EU-wide ban on the use of glyphosate, because of the WHO’s conclusions about its dangers to public health. His party colleague in the German parliament, Harald Ebner, referred to the re-evaluation of glyphosate by the WHO as ‘alarming’ and demanded ‘immediate consequences’. Continue reading

Here is a stunning quote from Sherwood Ross’ 6/22/2007 Counterpunch article, “The Big Profits in Boiwarfare Research: Corporate America’s Deadliest Secret”:
“A number of major pharmaceutical corporations and biotech firms are concealing the nature of the biological warfare research work they are doing for the U.S. government.
“Since their funding comes from the National Institutes of Health, the recipients are obligated under NIH guidelines to make their activities public. Not disclosing their ops raises the suspicion they may be engaged in forbidden kinds of germ warfare research.
“According to the Sunshine Project, a nonprofit arms control watchdog operating out of Austin, Texas, among corporations holding back information about their [biowarfare research] activities are:
“Abbott Laboratories, BASF Plant Science, Bristol-Myers Squibb, DuPont Central Research and Development, Eli Lilly Corp., Embrex, GlaxoSmithKline, Hoffman-LaRoche, Merck & Co., Monsanto, Pfizer Inc., Schering-Plough Research Institute, and Syngenta Corp. of Switzerland.
“In case you didn’t know it, the White House since 9/11 has called for spending $44-billion on biological warfare research, a sum unprecedented in world history, and an obliging Congress has authorized it.”
Patent EP1812575 held by Monsanto has been revoked by the European Patent Office (EPO) after the international coalition No Patents on Seeds! filed an opposition in May 2014. A further opposition was filed by Nunhems / Bayer CropScience. In November 2014, Monsanto requested that the patent be revoked in its entirety and the EPO complied with this request.
The patent covered conventionally bred tomatoes with a natural resistance to a fungal disease called botrytis, which were claimed as an invention. The original tomatoes used for this patent were accessed via the international gene bank in Gatersleben, Germany, and it was already known that these plants had the desired resistance. Monsanto produced a cleverly worded patent in order to create the impression that genetic engineering had been used to produce the tomatoes and to make it look ‘inventive’. Continue reading

This German based new study concludes that glyphosate residue could reach humans and animals through feed and excreted in urine. Presence of glyphosate in urine and its accumulation in animal tissues is alarming even at low concentrations.
Nowadays, voting for politicians or political parties that have been bought out by global corporate interests is an exercise in futility. But there is one lever of power still left to us – and that is voting with our shopping baskets.
Last month, there was a shining example of consumer power in action as the top German supermarkets, the powerhouses of Europe when it comes to retail, delivered a huge blow to the biotech industry by forcing their poultry industry to return to the use of non-GMO feed. Continue reading
Britain’s Minister for the Environment Owen Paterson has acted against the wishes of the British people by encouraging legislation to allow GM crops to be legally sown in Britain. This change has now gone through, meaning that GM crops can now be legally sown in Britain, probably within the year… and how soon after that will GM foods start flooding into the shops?
Paterson is not representing the view of the British people in Brussels, but the interests of Monsanto and other biotech companies. However, the British people are not being told about this change in the mainstream media.
Monsanto is showing no signs of withdrawing Roundup (Glyphosate), despite the accumulating scientific evidence showing it could be among the most dangerous products on earth. This weedkiller is being implicated in a series of epidemics of fatal chronic kidney disease across poor farming regions across the world, according to research published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. The pesticide producers are one of the most powerful industries on the planet, the influence they possess is enormous. You have probably heard that an Elsevier journal has retracted the Seralini study which showed evidence of harm to rats fed a GMO diet, despite admitting they found no fraud or errors in the study.
This journal had also just recently appointed an ex-Monsanto employee as an editor – one could only guess the value of this strategy for the pesticide industry. Expect Seralini to sue as this story develops, as it appears he has a very strong case.
Alas, the scientific ground on which the genetic engineering of plants is built may now be shakier than ever, thanks to GMO promoting scientists like Dr. Pamela Ronald. A recent article in Independent Science News questions whether she’ll be able to salvage her career, as two of her scientific papers (published in 2009 and 2011 respectively) were recently retracted. Biotech titan Monsanto has made significant advances in the development of herbicide-tolerant wheat, the company announced recently, and could have the first-of-its-kind crop ready for farming in just a few years’ time. Continue reading
